Many students are choosing to purchase digital versions of their books due to lower prices, portability, or accessibility.

Digital books are available as an eBook alone, or an eBook bundled with interactive software, homework management systems, simulations, or other online course content.

If your professor requires you to purchase an access code, it is because at least part of your grade will be related to and/or come from the online content. If your professor recommends that you purchase an access code, it is probably because the online content gives you access to additional study material.

University Book Store strives to offer as many digital titles as possible. If the ebook you are looking for is not available, it may be that the title is not available in a digital format or publisher restrictions. There is a larger selection of digital titles on our Vital Source storefront.

The publisher determines access length, but many books have multiple options available. You will either be offered a selection of days (90 days, 180 days, or 365 days are the most common), or a lifetime purchase.

As part of our continued efforts to reduce the cost of course materials, University Book Store partners with publishers and Cascadia instructors to deliver select materials through a program called Student Choice. These course materials are delivered through a link on Canvas. You will have free trial access to the materials for the first 2 weeks of the quarter and you must pay through the University Book Store website to retain access past the trial period (no code required). You will be emailed several reminders with the payment link during the trial period.
